Our family came to Ryelands Farm as tenants in the 1930s, and we have been here ever since.

The farm has evolved considerably over four generations. Jack’s great-grandfather, seen judging turnips in the photo (wearing the flat cap on the right) was at heart a cattle man, spending much of his time in local livestock markets.

His three sons expanded the business, milking cows and rearing sheep, pigs, broiler chickens and turkeys and growing cereals, potatoes, sugar beet and vegetables.

The farm is now home to a small and thriving business centre, with former redundant agricultural buildings converted into offices, storage and light industrial units.

A large part of the arable land was put in to an Environmental Stewardship Scheme in 2021. By establishing wildflower rich meadows and growing a mixture of plants to provide food for farmland birds during the “hungry gap” of late winter, we hope to see a proliferation of native flora and fauna over the next five years and beyond.

10,000 trees have been planted on 25 acres to create a mixed woodland along The Elmley Brook and cricket bat willow has also been established on the wetter areas of the farm.

So we now have a redundant grain store that lends itself perfectly to self-storage. This new facility is conveniently located just off the A442 Kidderminster Road to Droitwich Spa and close to Hartlebury and Hartlebury Trading Estate. Stourport-on-Severn is in easy striking distance through Torton to the west and Mustow Green to the north. Follow the signs for Ryelands Business Centre and Barn Store.
