Our family are incredibly proud to have been farming in Shiplake since 1904. Stephen is the fourth generation to take the reins and is passionate about securing a successful future for the farm.
We grow a mix of cereal crops, oilseed rape and morphine poppies in rotation on our own land and for neighbouring farms. Each year we produce enough milling wheat to make over 1.2 million loaves of bread and enough oilseed rape to fry 270,000 bags of crisps! We also rear Aberdeen Angus beef cattle on the water meadows beside the River Thames where they thrive on the lush grass in summer.
Over fifteen acres of the farm is dedicated to encouraging biodiversity, particularly pollinating insects and wild birds. We are really chuffed that we now have healthy numbers of corn buntings and linnets. Stephen has also reduced the farm’s carbon footprint with the installation of our fifty kilowatt solar panels which will provide us with renewable electricity for the next twenty years.
None of this would be possible without our team. Murray and Kevin have over sixty years of farming experience between them and can turn their hands to just about anything. Helen keeps a keen eye on all things office related and will be handling enquiries for Barn Store along with Stephen.
We are especially proud of our newly renovated barn, complete with CCTV and high security alarm for Barn Store and we really look forward to helping you.
We are only ten minutes drive from Henley and Caversham in Shiplake on the A4155. Please give us a call!
