The Parkinson Family have farmed at Rolling Pin Farm for 6 generations. Jim’s great, great grandfather moved to the farm in 1880 and kept a herd of dairy cows and from time to time had pigs and poultry. Why it is named Rolling Pin Farm is a question often asked, but to which no-one has the answer!
Today, farmers Jim, Joy & their son Oliver farm around 300 acres with a milking herd of 220 cows.
The milk produced only travels a short distance to a local dairy in the village of Woodplumpton, just 1 & 1/2
miles away, for bottling & distribution to local homes, shops & hospitals.
Ollie is very good at keeping the herd topped up with our own young stock coming through into the herd.
Rolling Pin Farm is part of the Countryside Stewardship Scheme doing what we can to keep rural sustainability at the forefront.
Hedgerow management encourages berry growth, which sustains the wild bird population, while field corners and boundaries support a diverse range of flora and fauna.
The family business is run by Jim & Ollie while one of Jim and Joy’s three daughters, Hattie, works in the farm and Barn Store office and helps in any other way she can while having a young family to look after.
We are easily located on the edge of the Fylde, within 10 minutes from Preston and 30 minutes of Blackpool and only 5 mins away from the new M55 J2 at Bartle and the M6 J32 at Broughton.
