For six generations, the Parkinson family has farmed at Rolling Pin Farm, a name that sparks curiosity but remains a mystery since Jim’s great-great-grandfather settled here in 1880, originally with dairy cows, pigs, and poultry.

Today, Jim, Joy, and their son Oliver manage 300 acres with a milking herd of 220 cows. The milk travels just 1.5 miles to a local dairy in Woodplumpton for bottling and distribution to nearby homes, shops, and hospitals.

Ollie excels at integrating young stock into the herd, ensuring its continuity. As part of the Countryside Stewardship Scheme, the farm focuses on rural sustainability. Hedgerow management promotes berry growth for wild birds, while field corners and boundaries nurture diverse flora and fauna.

Jim and Ollie oversee the family business, with Hattie, one of Jim and Joy's daughters, contributing in the farm and Barn Store office while managing a young family.
