A family farm with more than a century of history

Our family has farmed in Shiplake since 1904. Today, the farm is led by Stephen, the fourth generation of the Doble family, who continues its long-standing traditions while investing in a sustainable future.

We grow a variety of crops, including cereals, oilseed rape and specialist pharmaceutical poppies, both on our own land and for neighbouring farms. Each year, we produce enough milling wheat for more than 1.2 million loaves of bread and enough oilseed rape to fry approximately 270,000 bags of crisps.

During the summer months, our Aberdeen Angus cattle graze on the lush water meadows beside the River Thames.

Farming with nature

More than fifteen acres of the farm are dedicated to biodiversity, creating valuable habitats for pollinating insects and wild birds. We are particularly pleased to support healthy populations of corn buntings and linnets.

Stephen has also invested in a 50kW solar-panel system, helping to reduce the farm’s carbon footprint and generate renewable electricity for years to come.

A knowledgeable local team

The farm’s success depends on the experience and dedication of our team. Murray and Kevin bring more than sixty years of combined farming experience and manage a wide range of day-to-day operations.

Helen looks after the farm office and, alongside Stephen, is available to answer Barn Store enquiries and help customers find the right storage space.
