A Working Farm with Deep Local Roots

For over 100 years, the Hall family has been farming at Sherholt Lodge, just outside Burton upon Trent. The farm has grown and adapted through the generations, but its connection to the land has remained at the heart of everything it does.

Since 2001, Sherholt Lodge has been part of the Countryside Stewardship Scheme, helping to protect and enhance the local environment alongside day-to-day farming. This has included the creation of grass margins and wildflower strips around field edges, providing valuable habitats for birds, insects, pollinators and other wildlife.

In 2002, 25 acres of the farm were planted with trees as part of the National Forest Scheme. This planting contributes to the wider vision of transforming 200 square miles of central England into a thriving forest landscape, bringing together woodland, farmland, wildlife habitats and local communities.
